Hat Care Guide
If you find yourself sweating heavily while wearing the hat, it's important to maintain its cleanliness. Here's a step-by-step guide:
-
Begin by carefully wiping down both the inside and outside of the hat with a damp cloth to remove any excess body salts caused by perspiration.
-
Turn the hatband outwards and ensure the hat is allowed to thoroughly dry between wearings to prevent moisture buildup.
-
If you notice salt stains forming on the felt, create a cleaning solution by mixing distilled white vinegar and water in equal parts. Dip a white cloth into this solution, spot clean the salt stains, and then let the hat dry completely.
-
To restore the nap of the felt, gently use a soft brush.
-
In the case that the sweatband of the hat is made of leather and becomes stiff, clean it with saddle soap and apply a leather conditioner to maintain its suppleness. Be cautious not to let the conditioner come into contact with the felt, as it can leave stains.
-
If the hat has been stained with hair products, lotions, or body oils, sprinkle the affected area with cornstarch or talcum powder. Allow the powder to sit on the hat for at least a couple of hours to absorb the oils, then brush it away. Repeat the process if the stain persists.
-
Avoid using liquid cleaners on the hat unless the fibers are synthetic. Instead, use a small amount of mild detergent mixed with water on a clean, white cloth to spot-treat stains. Rinse by wiping the area with a cloth dipped in plain water, and then let the hat air dry naturally.
